Some passages of Scripture can feel unsettling – especially those that seem to speak of eternal condemnation. For many years, I believed that eternal torment was the destiny for those who rejected Jesus Christ. With respect for those who still hold that view, I personally have been led to a different conviction: because of Jesus, all humanity is eternally secure! How does my view square with so-called “difficult texts” of the Bible, such as Revelation 21:8, which speaks of “fire and brimstone”? Please give me five minutes to hear how – and why.
